Filippo Gaetani

I have been working with artists and producers across Europe, UK, US and Canada. Recent and past works and my collaborations include SheLoom, Don Grusin,  The 1975,  Adrina Thorpe, My Excellence, Martin Klein, Jessie Grace, Papermoon, Andy Bell/Phil Larsen, Digital Noise Academy,  Xiren, Peter Doran, Eraldo Bernocchi, Russell Morgan, Stefano Bollani, Erik Friedlander, Malina, Katja Werker..

As a producer I won 2 MTV Indie Pop Ourstage awards in 2009-2010 and as a musician I played as a supporting artist for Miles Davis & Sting+Gil Evans tour in 1987. I am currently collaborating with leading software house IK Multimedia on a number of sound libraries and I am a is founding member of the band SheLoom, Plants That Grow At Night and Q-bizm. I founded recordingfestival.com, and indie label rayrecordings.com. I live in Vienna (and partly in Tuscany). I currently teach and coach students on sound engineering and music production at the VMI Vienna Music Institute (Conservatory Of Contemporary Music).

Filippo Gaetani is an independent record producer, sound engineer, composer and songwriter who has been recording, mixing and writing music for almost 35 years with a large and varied number of artists and bands from many parts of the world including the US, the UK, Canada and Europe.

Starting in the mid 80s, Filippo  got to know all of the available music technologies, from cassette, reel to reel tape, digital tape machines, hard disk recorders, to todays DAW and computer based music. He worked on countless music projects spanning from Pop, Rock, to Jazz and Classical  using several analog and digital consoles in many studios around Europe and the USA including Steakhouse studio, Bombshelter studio, NRG (Los Angeles),  Metropolis, Abbey Road (London), Grouse Lodge (Ireland), French Kiss (Ontario , Can) Hafner studio , Hit-galaxy , Wilddogmusic, Sunshine and Recordable (Vienna), Forum studio (Rome), Psycho (Milan), Le Bozze, La Pineta (Tuscany, Italy), Sound development (Zurich).

Filippo won,2 times in a row, the MTV Ourstage pop and indie pop first prize in 2010 for the production of Adrina Thorpe singles “Midnight” and “Everything Changes”. From 2007 to 2011 he has been an active songwriting and co-production member of LA-DNA (Digital Noise Academy) founded by artist producer Ken Andrews, featuring, among others, producers Greg Wells, Justin Meldhal Johnsen, musician Matt Chamberlain and producer-artist Jordon Zadorozny with whom, in 2007, he formed SheLoom.

During the year 2000 he  was involved in a chart success with a funk-soul song he wrote and produced for the artist Malina called “By your side”, remixed and licensed by Tommy Boy label NY, reaching no. 12 on US Billboard charts.  In the 80’s as a musician he performed as bassist and guitarist in several formations supporting Italian acts Ivano Fossati, & legendary PFM and in 1987 joined modern jazz Gianluca Mosole Group as vocalist and percussionist and toured supporting Sting & Gil Evans, Miles Davis and Al Di Meola.

His most significant mentors  were the late legendary engineer Al Schmitt and Fleetwood Mac co-founder Jeremy Spencer.

Filippo is also a member of the art-rock/indie pop duo SheLoom and the funk jazz-rock band Q-bizm. He currently teaches Music production and sound engineering at VMI conservatory, Vienna.
